标签的坚挺度是出标的关键，因此要求表面材料的一定的强度和硬度，标签的坚挺度又和材料的厚度和标签的面积有关，所以使用柔软的薄膜材料时，要适当增加其厚度，一般控制在100μm以上。薄的纸张类材料，如60~70g/m2的贴标纸，一般不适合做大标签，而适合加工成小标签，如标价枪上使用的价格标签。标签的坚挺度差会导致贴标时不出标，或标签同底纸一同复卷，使自动贴标失效。
